Foundation Training
Starting your young horse is one of the most important aspects of his training. It is the most intensive period of learning he will ever experience and therefore it is extraordinarily important that it be safe, methodical and progressive.
Our Foundation Training method is based on the work of Dr Andrew McLean and involves minimal stress for the horse. All horses learn in-hand aids before progressing to ridden work. The under-saddle process begins bareback allowing the horse to become completely comfortable with the riders touch, before being introduced to the saddle.
Foundation Training takes between 3 and 6 weeks depending on the maturity of the horse, and the level of training required by the owner. Horses are trained in all gaits on straight lines and circles, they develop contact and in some cases the beginnings of lateral work, lengthening and outline. We are careful not to overload the horse. Relaxation is paramount.
We welcome you to participate in your horse's progress at any time during the training. We always provide a lesson on your horse so you are familiar with the training, and ongoing support to help you continue on with the training at home.

Performance Horse Training
Here at Equine Insight we take horses in for short and long-term training. From youngsters at the very beginning (see Foundation Training above) right through to FEI levels.
Horses can be taken for schooling and competition or just to tune up some buttons or help you progress to the next level with your training. Follow up lessons provided.
If you have a specific problem you are wanting to overcome in your training, or you just want some help to progress to the next level of competition with your horse, we are here to help with training and follow-up lessons to help you achieve your goals!
We work methodically to diagnose where the problem stems from and work to strengthen the correct responses in order to progress to the next level of training. With a horse who is light and responsive to the basic aids (stop, go and turn) your progression through the next stages is a simple one.
Short and long term schooling is available as well as follow-up tuition to help you get the best out of the training.
